The Cultural & Language Clinic proudly backs Granada's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031.
We teach Spanish by living Granada: its hills and squares, its history of three cultures, its flamenco and its poetry. That is why the city’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture 2031 is not a distant headline for us but our very reason for being. Everyone who learns Spanish here discovers that language and culture are one and the same, and leaves as an ambassador of Granada to the world.
🎯 A clinic born looking towards 2031
The Cultural & Language Clinic is born with a date on the horizon: 2031. That year Granada aspires to be the European Capital of Culture and the University of Granada celebrates its fifth centenary (it was founded in 1531, almost 500 years ago). We want to reach that milestone having turned thousands of students from all over the world into ambassadors of Granada. That is our founding goal, and that is why we tell it here from day one. We’re honest about it: if in the end Granada isn’t chosen as capital of culture, we’ll adjust the goal —but not the method: teaching Spanish by living the city.

Our method turns Granada's culture into a classroom: routes, missions, poetry and the city's memory. Backing the bid means backing what we do every single day.
Every student, an ambassador
We welcome students from all over the world —from Asia to the Arab world— who fall in love with the city. They are the best international voice a cultural bid could hope for.
A living lab
The bid is designed as an open innovation lab bringing together institutions, the university and civil society. That spirit is ours too: innovating through teaching, with Granada as the teacher.
A bid with a future
Granada is a finalist city in its bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031, alongside Cáceres, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Oviedo, with the backing of its institutions, the University of Granada and its citizens. We add our small part: every class, every route and every student who carries Granada in their heart.
